there are some i spend time with, and leave with a sense of sadness; yet others i spend time with, and leave with an inexplainable feeling of peace and joy. i pray that more and more people will fall under the latter category – because, as schoolwork and other worries pile on the pressure, some [...]

你有你的,我有我的,方向;
strange how this happens sometimes

i recall penning this poem a long time ago, half a year back i suppose; and i recall getting stuck, met face with a writer’s block that couldn’t be overcome. so it was stored away, the unfinished draft, between the pages of my yellow book of last year. and suddenly, i met with it again, [...]
raindrops are falling on my head

rain falls -
droplets frolicking in your tangled hair
trickling, searching
till solace it finds within the woven threads
drop-by-drop
sliding along your polished complexion
laughing, playing
the patter they make is alluring
to the soles of your feet
you’re drenched -
but you embrace them with laughter
those drippy rascals have it all -
and i -
from behind the metal bars
sigh and -
wish i were a [...]

i wonder how people forget things.
the passage of time has much to do with it of course; as time passes, people just tend to forget things, its the natural progression of things. over time, our memory just weakens, we fail to recall certain facts or figures, certain numbers or dates; some things of course, we [...]

“seventy four,” you said, eyes glistening
“just awhile”, i said, since it’s drizzling
hesitation -
you sat, i sat, the metal pillar stood
if you wanted to go, you could
yea – if i wanted to, i would
silences -
pitter, patter, the raindrops spoke
so it didn’t matter
i received your letter…
ah…hope you’re feeling better,
assurances -
you smiled, i smiled, the world seemed
a lot [...]

i find increasingly, with each passing day, that everything seems to be repeating itself – save of the entrance of new Year 5s in FireAC, save for the missing bridge on the fifth story, save for all fenced up quarry on Pulau Ubin – everything seems to be replaying before these eyes of mine.
every path [...]

the pile of pieces lay before his bewildered eyes, everything just seemed so blurry, so fuzzy – so unclear. he was paralyzed, in so many aspects, paralyzed even as he tried to twitch his finger to touch the desired piece; he was immobile, staring blankly into the spaceless void that lay before him; he stood, [...]
jigzaw pieces

when i was young, i bought a jigsaw set, a lovely quaint 200 piece one – still quite a challenge for a newbie like myself. starting to piece together everything, the picture became clearer at times – you had to begin in the corners and work your way in – and yet at other times [...]

so what do you know? Singapore seems to have almost topped the charts in terms of average number of monthly text messages per person, closing in at more than 200 (ah that puts me above average!). no one can beat the Philippines at their game, but the statistics still show that text messages are catching [...]
